If you're buying a baby naming book

Consider Beyond Jennifer and Jason, which groups possible names into very useful categories. In fact, the categories are almost more helpful, since they can focus your naming efforts.

For example, we found categories like Soap Opera Names, TV Character Names, Names Celebrities Gave Their Kids, and the corollary, Which Celebrities Named Their Kid ______, to be extremely helpful in crossing names off our list.

(What? If you're gonna name your kid Rumer, you better be doing it despite Bruce and Demi, not because of them. And even if your parents named you Uhura, it doesn't mean you can just name your kid Trinity without thinking.)
