Fetus Envy

David Skinner, an irreverent editor at The Weekly Standard, is not pleased with the impossibly false empathy preached by modern "we're pregnant" advice books for fathers-to-be.

In a Feb. 2003 essay, he compares the 1958 Frank B. Gilbreth Jr. classic, How To Be A Father with Armin A. Brott's 2001 standardbearer, The Expectant Father.

Contrary to Brott's assertions, Skinner finds that men and women are different. It makes for entertaining reading. [Unless you're a Weekly Standardbearer, in which case it's just one more worrisome sign of the coming apocalypse.]
