UK Parents Wrestle for Work/Care Balance

From London, the Observer has an extensive article on the current state of child carers (the British term for parents, etc. I hear they call trucks "lorries," too.). Mums and dads are both dealing with balancing work and family life; gender-equal treatment by employers; and crafting government policy to support the reality of British familes. [Did you know that more than a third of care is provided by men?]

The main lesson I learned: the British love to organize into about a hundred picayune associations for every aspect of every cause. If you don't believe me, just ask Jonathan McCalmont, spokesman for Kidding Aside, which campaigns for rights for the child-free.
